Rock N Racheal (Izzy)
Izzy is a 2 year old registered American Paint Horse mare. I was given Izzy when she was a yearling. She was in very poor shape when we recieved her. She had matted fur, mud and manure hanging from her stomach, un-trimmed hooves, bowed front legs, and was stunted. We spent three long hours getting her clean up and started feeding her grain and supplements. She has since grown to be around 14 hands high, her legs have straightened, and she has become a very nicely conformed horse. I have also been spending a lot of time training her using Clinton Anderson's method and she has proven herself to be an extremely smart horse. She learns very quickly and her training has gone very far.
Izzy knows lateral flexion, lunging on halter and at liberty, stopping, walking, trotting, cantering, backing, and side passing. I have also had her jump over some barrels and she did well. She has been desensitized to tarps, plastic bags, rattling cans, and more. She has also been ponied many times off of Sonny Red Sox Gem. I have been on her and have ridden her both in the round pen and on trails. She does well in both settings and will walk, trot, back, and side pass under saddle. She goes over bridges, through creeks, up and down hills, through handicap mounting stations, ect. She doesn't spook at picnic tables, fire pits, cars & motorcycles passing her, deer, turkey, dogs, ect. She will lead, follow, or be in the middle of a group on a trail ride but she does not like when horses are on her butt and will kick at them, but we are working on this. Izzy has had about 10 hours of riding time and will get more as soon as the weather is good. Izzy is also in the prosess of learning how to bow and is coming along very nicely. I also showed Izzy in 4-H this year and she did well for her first show. I used her in showmanship, 2 & under halter, and trail class. She did great in everything and I am glad she got the experience.
